Terms of use
Chateau Fairmount is a private home at 236 Fairmount Street, Lowell, MA. This website tells its story. Using the site means you accept the few rules below.
A private home
The house and grounds are not open to the public except on the occasions announced here, such as Halloween night. You are welcome to look and photograph from the public street. Please do not come up the drive, knock, or enter the grounds uninvited.
How we decide what to publish
Every historical statement on this site is tied to a numbered research note with a source and a grade — verified, partly verified, a supported interpretation, or, where we say so, folklore. The Sources page lists them. Where the record is thin we say so; where sources disagree we say that too. We do not invent missing details, and we never present an imagined or computer-generated likeness as a real person. If we are wrong, tell us and we will correct it and log the correction.
Accuracy and reliance
We take care, but history is revised as records surface. The site is offered as it is, for general interest. Dates, hours and arrangements for events may change; check the Halloween page on the day. Nothing here is professional, legal or safety advice.
What you may do with the content
Text and photographs on this site are © Chateau Fairmount unless a caption or credit says otherwise. Historic images from public collections are credited and keep the rights their caption states. You may quote short passages and link to any page, with a credit to chateaufairmount.com. Please ask before reproducing photographs or longer passages, and do not use photographs of the house to advertise anything. Board-game descriptions and box art on the Game Night page belong to their publishers and to BoardGameGeek, and are shown for identification.
Other sites
Links to YouTube, Facebook, GoFundMe, libraries, archives and other sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.
Contributions
If you send us a photograph, a document or a memory, you confirm that you have the right to share it, and you let us keep it in the house’s archive and, if you agree, publish it with a credit. You keep ownership. Our privacy page explains how we handle what you send and how to ask for something to be taken down.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the site grows; the date below changes when we do. Questions go to perry@chateaufairmount.com.
