C-059 — Among the last residents of the Battles Home in 2004 were Raymond F. Rourke (1917–2004), Lowell firefighter, state representative 1957–75 and the city's 73rd mayor (1978–79), and his wife Rita. His obituary (2004) carries a condolence from a former Battles Home employee who knew the couple there; the Lowell Sun of 2011 reported a former mayor and his wife among the last to leave.
