- C-156 — City water reached the stretch of Fairmount Street where the house would stand in 1881–82, just before Atherton built. In 1881 the 8-inch main was carried up Fairmount Street to Whitman Street, 'opposite the house of David E. Chase', and a 6-inch pipe beyond it 'to the house of Col. Albert Pinder', with applications already made to extend it 'to the Tewksbury line'; in 1882 'the high-service mains have been extended in Belvidere on Fairmount street, from the end of the pipe to the Tewksbury line.'
- C-222 — The 'T. Tweed' of the T. Tweed / H. Pollard House was Timothy G. Tweed, apothecary (Carleton & Hovey, 164 Merrimack Street), listed at old No. 82 (the present 96) Mansur Street in 1886; his widow Mary H. was there in 1894, and Harry G. Pollard by 1906. City water had been run 'on Mansur street to the house of T. G. Tweed' in 1882.
- C-247 — Merrill & Cutler designed the Palmer Street engine house (the central fire station), occupied on December 1, 1889, the Superintendent of Public Buildings crediting 'the designs of the architects, Messrs. Merrill & Cutler'. The city also paid the firm for new buildings at the City Farm (1882), an addition to the Varnum school-house (1886), additions to the River Street and Dover Street school-houses and the new Favor Street school-house (1888), and an addition to the Insane Hospital (1893).
