Statements this record supports
- C-069 — Abel T. Atherton had a son, Charles Thomas Atherton, born in Lowell on 3 May 1864 to 'Abel Thomas Atherton and Mary Ann Conlow'; Charles married Alice Rebecca Day of Groveland at Haverhill on 5 December 1888, was 'a manufacturer of textile machinery', and had six children born at Pawtucket, R.I. (1890–1899) and Providence (1904). Georgiana Atherton, grantor of the 1887 deed, was therefore Abel's second wife, not the mother of his son; the Lowell marriage of 1863 (C-057 lead) is most likely to Mary Ann Conlow. Charles, aged 19–23 while the family owned the stone house, was presumably a member of the household, though no record places him at Fairmount Street.
